Lower Frankton substation
Developer: National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET), Green GEN Cymru, (other?)
National Grid have confirmed their proposal for a new 400kV substation at Lower Frankton, on the existing overhead transmission line between Wrexham and Shrewsbury. However, there are currently no details about the plans other than a description on the NGET website.
Green GEN Cymru have submitted plans for their switching station at Lower Frankton and indication of the development area (draft order limits). This will connect to a the new 400kv NGET substation, presumably on same site.
There is an implication for other grid connections here, although no further information yet.
This website is about Wales although Lower Frankton is in England. However, the new substation is a critical part of the Vyrnwy-Frankton pylon line and our Saesneg neighbours in the beautiful county of Shropshire are just as affected as we are in Wales.
